But you are pretty much on your own with it. I think this is too bad because it’s a great renderer and so widely used that knowledge you gain in one application will be, to some extent, useful if you move to another application. V-Ray for Rhino is very similar to V-Ray for SketchUp so I’m more likely to ask a question over on the Sketchucation forum. I have licenses for Rhino and for SketchUp and I’m registered on the site but still no go. I can’t post on the forum - I get a screen saying I don’t have ‘permission’ to post. V-Ray is excessively security conscious and that might be part of the problem. There’s rarely more than a post or two a day on the forum and many of those don’t get answered. They will hold your hand when necessary but outside of that there’s almost no community. This is my biggest complaint about Rhino - very little guidance. Not very helpful when you have a deadline approaching.

An add-on purchase is required to unlock exporting full resolution animations. Out of the box this feature is fully functional, and small preview movies can be saved. The most notable being the integrated animation tools. KeyShot 3 has arrived with a large number of enhancements and new features. Renders don't need to bake forever to look decent and the results are "good enough." It is integrated into Solidworks, scenes are easy to setup, there are enough options (but not an overwhelming amount) to dial it in. I've tried a number of other tools, such as Maxwell, but I kept coming back to PhotoView. My CAD tool of choice is Solidworks complimented by PhotoView 360 for creating renderings.

The computer I used to review is a MacBook Pro, with Windows 7 (via Bootcamp). If you don't remember, the core of HyperShot more or less became Keyshot. I was optimistic when Bunkspeed and Luxion parted ways, splitting the excellent HyperShot into two separate software packages, Bunkspeed Shot and Luxion KeyShot.
